One aspect of stewardship is tithing. This is an important Biblical concept.
The word tithe means a tenth. As stewards, we need to know the proper way to tithe, what tithes are, where and to whom it should be paid, what we are to tithe on, and when to tithe.
Where you spend your money is an indication of where your heart is. If we love the things of God, our giving pattern will show it.
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21
“Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.” Proverbs 3:9-10

The Word of God is very clear as to where we are to give our offerings. We are to bring our tithes and offerings to the storehouse, the local church, in which we worship. This is the place where we are fed, strengthened and grow. By faithfully bringing our gifts before the Lord, we are actually declaring that we put our confidence in Him and the leadership He has chosen for our church.
We communicate our trust in their wisdom to dispense the money according to God’s ways.
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” Malachi 3:10
